Robert ‘Bryan’ Cross Obituary
EASTLAND - Robert ‘Bryan’ Cross of Eastland, Texas, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015 at the age of 57, after a year long battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 15th at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland.
Bryan is survived by his mother, Betty Cross of Eastland, Texas.
Daughter Alisha Tucker, son-in-law Gabe Tucker and three granddaughters: Kristin, Kaitlin, and Karsen Tucker of Carbon Texas.
Sisters: Tina Gilbert & husband Bruce Gilbert of Eastland, Texas and Nancy Wilson of Eastland, Texas.
Nieces: Shandy Monty & husband Steve of Eastland; Jendy Pelham & fiancé Chris Bartley of Eastland; and Mandy Allison & husband David of Weatherford, Texas.
Nephew: Justin Finley & fiancé Jessica Naomi of Eastland, Texas.
Ten grand nieces and nephews: Saylor, Sawyer & Stella Monty; Taylor, Trent &
Tanner Smart; Tatum, Parker & Yeldon Allison; and Jayton Finley.
Special friends of 18 years, Jane, Jenny, and McKenzie Abbott who held a special place in his heart.
Bryan was preceded in death by his father, Troy Lee Cross and brother-in-law, Allen Wilson.
Bryan loved his fur buddies they had a very special bond: Daisy, who has already passed on, Pancho and Chevy who was by his side when he passed on. Bryan loved to cut up and joke around, but if you wanted to see him light up mention one of his grandchildren. He loved to have his farm pal/granddaughter Karsen around helping “Pop Pop” with her favorite cow #11. Pop Pop cherished the gifts Kaitlin created with her sewing machine. He thoroughly enjoyed watching Kristin cheer on the Mavericks.
Bryan was born January 21, 1958, in Gorman, Texas to Troy Lee and Betty (Reynolds) Cross. He started school in Eastland, moved with his family to Midland in 1966, and returned to this area in 1974. He was a student at Carbon High School where he was active in FFA/Ag and Welding. He had three hogs for showing one year and named them after his grandparents Martha, Myrtle, and Orange Arther. While in high school, he took welding classes at Cisco College. He graduated from Carbon High School in 1976. Bryan worked as a welder for many years. After high school, he began working for Moylan Construction. In 1978, he began his welding career with Nash Brothers in 1978. In 1980, he moved on to work at Southwestern Gas Pipeline until he went independent in 1985. After years of traveling, he settled on the farm and traveled to Midland where he worked during the week. From 2011until his illness, he worked for Lin’s Welding Service in Odessa. Welding was his way of life, but farming was his true joy.
Bryan was loved by many, many friends and will be missed by all. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Solaris angels who were a true blessing.
