Marie (Mary) Jimenez Obituary
EASTLAND – Marie (Mary) Jimenez, 67 of Eastland, TX, passed away Friday September 9, 2016 after a
courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday September 13th at
Edwards Funeral Home. Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Mass will be at 10:00 a.m.
Wednesday September 14th at St. Francis Catholic Church in Eastland.
Mary was born in Mingus, TX on March 10, 1949 to Micaela & Julio Jimenez. She lived in Eastland most of her
life and graduated from Eastland High School. She worked at Eastland Drug and Eastland Memorial Hospital before
she worked 29 years at Rock House Springs and Eastland Independent School District for over 14 years. Mary had a
gift for working with special needs individuals which she did for the school system and the Rock House. Mr. Jason Henry,
principal of Eastland Middle School, said Mary started her day at 6 a.m. helping the students onto the handicap bus and
ensuring they have a safe and comfortable ride to school. She then spent her day working with multiple children in the
life skills classroom. She did this with a smile, eagerness, and without stopping. She never complained and was willing
to do anything for a student or staff. However, she rarely had to be asked. Mary found what needed to be done did it.
There was no idle time with Mary. She then ends her day around 6 p.m. ensuring her students make it home safely.
If it is Friday, Mary then heads to Rock House where she spent her weekends working with mentally and physically handicapped adults.
Mary was a selfless person who had a strong impact on everyone she ever met. Mary is predeceased by her parents; and sisters, Cecilia and Albine.
Survivors include her brothers, Everisto, Julio, Jimmy, Felipe, John, Alex, and Larry Bolles; sisters, Ramona, Francis, Rosie,
Maggie, and Jessie. Her special God children, Heather and Phylicia Chapman and Bryson Webb, and Michael McDaniel;
her beloved niece, Victoria Jimenez, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Special friends, Delores and Kenneth Chapman,
and James Brookhart and Carlton Cozart, Ellie and Mimi Romero, Crystal Harris, Sharla & Tim Carroll, numerous co-workers, friends, and family.
