Frances Almeta Simien Obituary
Frances Almeta Simien, 78, of Bakersfield, California passed away at San Joaquin Community Hospital in
Bakersfield, California on Friday, August 5, 2016.
Funeral service was held August 16, 2016 at 11:00 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1070 N Texas Street,
Fairfield, CA. with Rev. Michael Downey officiating.
Interment was held at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery, 1707 Union Ave., Fairfield, CA.
Basham Funeral Care, 3312 Niles Street, Bakersfield, CA was in charge of the arrangements.
Frances Almeta Simien was born in 1937 in Cameron Texas to Luther Woodruff and
Francis Rose.
She married Clarence M Simien November 3, 1962 in Ranger, Texas. He preceded her in death August 6, 2004.
Frances worked many different jobs throughout her life. She was a housekeeper for the Flamingo Hotel in Santa Rosa, CA
and Guest Housing at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield CA. She was a hospital Equipment Cleaning Technician at Veterans
Hospital in Denver Colorado. She was a wonderful cook and used that skill as a volunteer for fund raising events in her church.
She worked with her husband in their Vacuum Cleaning Supply and Repair Shops in Vacaville and Suisun City, California before
retiring in 2004. She was a devoted wife and mother, loving sister, and true friend to everyone in her life. She was generous, had a
great sense of humor, and had a good sense of style.
Survivors are: Daughter- Yolanda Simien in Bakersfield, CA; Sister – Jean Woodruff in Ranger Texas; Mother –
Francis Woodruff in Ranger Texas; Brother- Luther Woodruff in Radcliff, Kentucky; and numerous nieces and nephews in California,
Kentucky, Virginia, Georgia, and Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by Husband of 39 years – Clarence Simien, Father Luther Woodruff, Her sisters Alberta and Betty Woodruff, and brother James L Woodruff.
