Florine Doris Pearson

   EASTLAND- Florine Doris Pearson, 93, of Eastland passed away Monday, May 11, 2015. Her services will be 2 PM Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Harmony Baptist Church of Morton Valley. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

   Florine Doris Pearson was born to John L. and Della D. B. Elam September 28, 1921, in Leonard, Texas and moved with her family to Wichita Falls in 1925 where she grew up. She was an “A” student and loved drawing.  After graduating from Wichita Falls High School in 1939 she entered Hardin Junior College (now Midwestern State).   During World War II Florine did much volunteer work for hospitals, her church, and the U.S.O.  She graduated with an art degree from the University of Texas, in 1948.  At Austin Florine married Lee Roy Pearson Jr. in 1947 and moved to Ranger, TX ten years later, where she joined the 1947 Book Club and the bridge club.  She won first prize in a community pecan pie baking contest.  Florine taught art at Ranger College for two years (1962-64).  After raising kids she attended numerous art workshops and traveled.  In 2009 Florine moved to the Woodlands Assisted Living home (Eastland, TX) and continued painting.  She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading books, growing tomatoes, feeding humming birds, and visits from grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was a tough survivor of the depression, but had a soft heart, a keen sense of humor, and loved Christ, family, and her very dear grandchildren and great grandchildren.
  Florine is preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Pearson, Jr.; her stepsisters, Sylvia M. Hertel and Theresa B. Taylor; brothers, Eugene M. Elam and John L. Elam Jr.; and sister Alpha D. Holton.

   Florine is survived by her children:  Lee Roy Pearson III and wife, Marci; Jane and husband, Jim Adams; Beth and husband, Craig Lund; Jack Pearson; Frank E. Pearson.  Her brother, Ira D. Elam and sisters; Barbara S. Elam and Cheryl L. Elam; grandsons, Ben Lund, Travis Adams, and Ty Adams and wife Jaime, granddaughters, J’ Lynn Adams Bowlin and husband Chris, Barbara Lund and Rebecca Pearson; great grandchildren Lane, Lyla Jane and Lawson C. Adams, and 22 nephews and nieces. 

The family wishes to thank her loving caretakers; Angelia, Terrah, Maria, Tiffany, as well as Gentiva Hospice, and the entire Woodland staff.
