On October 11, 2015, the Lord called Eva Zell Parker McGough home after a long battle with cancer. Her age at time of death was 80 years, 5 months and 11 days. She passed peacefully in her sleep at home surrounded by her family. Eva was born March 31, 1935 in Bonita, New Mexico to Thomas Jefferson Parker and Rosie Christine Bragg Parker. She married Patrick James McGough on February 16, 1951. A talented seamstress she retired from Russell-Newman of Cisco, and was a manager at Town and Country Convenience Store in Cross Plains. Eva was an avid reader with a love for beautiful flowers, especially irises, and she would spend hours meticulously doing word search puzzles. Matriarch to a large family, Mrs. Eva was tough as nails, and a strong-willed, loving woman of great faith. Many children found solace in her arms, and loving care at her door. She is survived by her step-daughter Barbara Westbrook and husband Troy of Nimrod, stepson Lewis McGough of Abilene, step-daughter Kay Mosley and husband Gary of Nimrod, step-daughter Frankie McGough of Cross Plains, step-daughter Patsy Deel and husband Billy of Cisco, daughter Melody McGough Collier of Hawley, son Jerry McGough and wife Nikki of Cisco and son Billy Walker and wife Tiffany of Lake Brownwood. She was a loving grandmother to numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and greatgreat grandchildren. Eva was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years Pat McGough, her daughter LaVelda Louise Walker, her parents Tom Parker and Rosie Bragg Parker, and her brother William Parker. Pall bearers for Mrs. Eva were Jerry McGough, Billy Walker, Chuck Letney, Russell Letney, Patrick Cline, Louis Walker, Chip Turner and Ronnie Letney. The family wants to send a special Thank You to the Nurses and staff of Gentiva Hospice Care of Brownwood with special gratitude to Regina Huseman for her unceasing, loving care. Graveside services were held on October 12, 2015 at 4pm at Mitchell Cemetery.
