Dorothy Louise (Ogle) Shirley

Dorothy Louise (Ogle) Shirley, age 87, passed from this life Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the Legend Oaks Care Center in Gladewater, TX,

where she had resided the last three years. She was born April 29, 1929 in Eastland County, Texas to Lewis Ogle II and Gracie (Hill) Ogle.

She attended schools in the Long Beach Community, Okra and Rising Star, all in Eastland County, Texas.

 

Those left to cherish her memory include her son: Farrell Glen Tharp and wife Doris of Big Sandy, TX; step-son: J.R. Shirley and wife Dean of Abilene;

sister: Naomi Edwards of Baird; two nephews: John Edwards of Hobbs, NM and Garry Edwards and wife Kris of Fort Stockton; two grandchildren:

Bobby Tharp of Longview, TX and Glenda Merrell of Hudson, TX; five great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren;

two great-nephews and one great-niece and lots of great friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her father and mother: Lewis and Gracie Ogle; her first and late husband: Farrell Tharp and Jewel Shirley; son:

Bobby Mack Shirley; two step-sons: Joe and Glen Gaylon Shirley.

 

Public viewing and Family visitation will take place from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Parker Funeral Home in Baird, TX.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, March 1, 2017 at Parker Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Charles Ivy officiating. Interment will follow

at Ross Cemetery Annex in Baird. Pallbearers will include: Bobby Tharp, Glen Shirley, Joe Shirley, Pierce Shackelford, Joe Yoes, David Yoes and Russell Shirley.

 

We the family will always remember the great foods, yum, yum, biscuits, gravy, fried chicken, roast beef, beans, chicken fried steak, cream potatoes, and super pies.

When the boys got out of line, Dorothy knew just the way to put them in good graces again. She loved music, her pets and above all, her family.

She loved going places and helping where she could. She will be dearly missed.
