Arley Jackson Bibby Obituary
Rising Star – Arley Jackson Bibby, 86, of Rising Star died Monday, December 21, 2015 at his daughter’s home in Clyde.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rising Star Church of Christ with Terry Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Rising Star Heritage Cemetery under the direction of Bailey-Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Arley will be in state at the Rising Star Church of Christ from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday with family visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. He will be in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.
Arley was born to Jack and Velma (Tharp) Bibby on September 9, 1929 in Ballinger. The family moved from Ballinger to Coleman then to Clyde where he played junior high football. They then moved to Pioneer before settling in Rising Star. He was a 1946 graduate of Rising Star High School. He married Felecia Sprayberry, on October 5, 1949 in Abilene.
Arley was quite the entrepreneur and was very involved in his community. He owned and operated many businesses including: Rising Star Cap Company, Bibby’s Creations, Bibby’s Trash Collection Co., Bibby’s Texaco Station, B&B Auto and Bibby’s House Moving to name a few. Arley was also an oilfield driller, tool pusher and a trolley car driver in Dallas at one time. He was the Constable in Rising Star for three terms and was also the Chief of Police at one point. Arley was one of the founders of the Rising Star Roping Club, serving on the board for all of the 13 years of the Friday night rodeos. He was a member of the Rising Star Church of Christ.
Arley is survived by one son, Jackie Bibby of Rising Star; one daughter, Velda Lee and her husband Johnny of Clyde; his very special friend, Bess Tharp of Rising Star; one brother-in-law, C.L. Sprayberry and wife Roma of Clifton; four grandsons, Shane Lee and his wife Leslie of Clyde, Jory Lee and his wife Billye of Clyde, Michael Bibby and wife Kayla of Arizona, and Matthew Bibby of Grand Prairie; seven great grandchildren, Shayla Smith and husband RC, Aaron Allen, Donavan, Anna Belle, and Alexander Bibby, Peyton, and Brayden Lee; one great, great grandchild, Kaytlyn Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Velma Bibby and wife, Felecia.
