Location:  FM 570, 1.5 miles West of Eastland

Weather/Road Condition:  Clear/cloudy, Dry

Vehicle 1:  2011 Ford F-150 Pickup

Driver:  Colton James Conger, male, 23, of Eastland

Injury:  Stable/non-incapacitating

Seat Belt:  Yes

Vehicle 2:  2016 Chevrolet Tahoe

Driver/deceased:  Deputy Kenneth Hubert Maltby, male, 73, of Eastland

Pronounced dead at the scene

Body taken to Edwards Funeral Home

Seat Belt:  Yes

Synopsis:  Vehicle 1 was eastbound on FM 570.  Vehicle 2 was westbound.  The driver of vehicle 1 swerved into the westbound lane to avoid striking another vehicle ahead.  Vehicle 1 struck vehicle 2 head on (left front to left front).  The deputy was on duty at the time.  Crash is under investigation.
