Dorothy Barton Obituary

Dorothy Barton

Dorothy Barton went to be with the Lord on June 11, one day after she celebrated her 97th birthday. She passed away peacefully at the Regent Care Center in San Antonio, Texas, where she had spent the last nine years of her life.

Born Annie Dorothy Feuhs on June 10, 1919, in Houston, Texas, she married James Irvin (Jim) Barton on September 3, 1938. The couple moved to San Antonio in 1939, where Jim worked at Kelly Field until the end of World War II.

Their first of four sons, Tom, was born in 1939. Their twin sons, Ron and Don, were born in 1944.

After the war, the family lived in Johnson City, Blanco, Brady, Kerrville, and Boerne before settling again in San Antonio in 1953, where they remained until Jim's retirement in 1982. It was during this time that their fourth son, Tim, was born in 1957.

Jim and Dorothy spent a number of their early retirement years on their ranch in Eastland before making their final move to Cisco.

They were active throughout their retirement years in the First Christian Church of Cisco, where Jim served as an elder.

Though confined to a wheelchair while in the care center, Dorothy took advantage of virtually all the activities available to her. In particular, she loved to read, which she was able to do without the aid of glasses. She also enjoyed playing

solitaire on her computer, something she did almost every day until just a few days before her death.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Jim in 2004 and her son Ron in 2013.

She is survived by Tom and Emily Barton of Temecula, California; Don and Connie Barton of San Antonio; and Tim and Debbie Barton of Cisco.

She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Most of all, she leaves a legacy of love that her family will always remember because of her sweet and gentle spirit--which now resides in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Graveside service will be 11:30 AM Saturday June 18, 2016 at Oakwood Cemetery in Cisco with Reverend Tom Barton Officiating. Visitation will Be Friday Evening from 5 until 7 at Kimbrough Funeral Home
