EASTLAND – Mary Jane Batts, 85 of Eastland, passed away Thursday September 17, 2015. Services was held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 21, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Eastland Rev. Jim Wright and DJ Walker officiating. Burial followed in the Eastland City Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5~7:00 p.m. Mary Jane was born March 6, 1930 in Sweetwater, Texas to Ray Norris Wilson and Mary Elizabeth (Harkey) Wilson. She grew up and attended schools in Eastland and attended Texas Tech University two years. She was a member of the Wilda Dragoo Harmony Girls during the 1940’s. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She was also a member of the First Christian Church. After working twenty years in the 91st District Clerks office in Eastland County as a deputy and District Clerk she retired in 1990. She later worked for Edwards Funeral Home for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 husbands, William T. (Bill) Arther, Robert L. (Buddy) Rowch, and Billy Joe Batts; son and daughterin-law, Brett and Sharon Arther; granddaughter, Tish Arther Weaver; and daughter-in-law, Barbara Johnson Arther Survivors include3 loving sons, Michael W. Arther of Eastland, Phillip H. Arther and wife Sherry of Eastland, and Thane R. Arther of Ft. Worth; 1 step-daughter, Traci Willis and husband Kerry of Georgetown. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 3 step-great-grandchildren.
