Truman Dale Powers Obituary
Truman Dale Powers, 81, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015 at his farmhouse in Desdemona, Texas.
He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Diane Brooks Powers, his daughters Sharla Crawford and Lori Massoth; sister Sammie Corley and husband Doug; and brother Stan Powers and wife Yolanda. Also, he leaves three grandchildren Cody Crawford and wife Julie, Morgan Crawford, and Suzanne Massoth; and great-grandchildren. He also leaves many wonderful friends.
After graduating from Stephenville High School, he attended Texas Tech University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation, Truman started a family in Texas City and worked for Amoco Chemicals. He started Powers Industries where he made his career until he retired early this year, 2015.
Truman had a passion for games of Gin and Bridge. Sundays were his evenings to spend with friends playing gin in “Truman’s Gin House” at the back of his property. He and Diane loved to travel to Europe and were fortunate enough to enjoy many trips exploring the beautiful country together.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Richmond, Texas on Tuesday, July 21, at 10:30 a.m.
A family burial service will be held later in the week at the Farm, which he loved so dearly.
