Birdie Lee Banks

ABILENE- Birdie Lee Banks, 94, formerly of Eastland, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015. Graveside services were held at 9 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2015 in Elliott- Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery with Charles Nowlin officiating under the direction of Elliott- Hamil Funeral Home. Birdie was born on December 22, 1920 in Chilton, TX. to Cornelius Lawrence and Teresa Bryant Tyrone. She has been a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall since her baptism on March 15, 1971. Birdie is survived by her sister, Vestell Jones of Houston; five grandchildren, April Newman of Homestead, FL, Vanessa (Tony) Lyles of Columbia, SC, Robby (Wanda) Banks of Abilene, Tracey (Eric) Price of Grand Prairie, and Farah Vann of Arlington; daughter-in-law, Neomia Banks of Abilene; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Banks, Sr; her son, Jesse Banks, Jr., her parents, Cornelius and Teresa Tyrone; her sisters, Mamie Coffield and Mable Clayton; one brother, Lonnie Gordon; and grandson-inlaw, Tyrone Newman.
