WHAT’S ON THE MENU AT EISD? MAJOR CHANGES REQUIRED BY USDA

School Districts across the nation will face additional regulations in their cafeteria this year. The changes are mandated by the Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010 (HHFKA). Championed by the First Lady on her Let’s Move! Initiative to solve the problem of childhood obesity within a generation. These programs are primarily designed to feed kids nutritious meals and to combat childhood hunger. The changes are the first major ones made in over 15 years and are important to the 32 million students who eat a school lunch and the 12 million who eat a school breakfast each school day.
