Historic Aid Available For District Renovation

By Desiree Caplinger A workshop was held Last Wednesday at City Hall. The Historic Preservation Board operates and helps Eastlandrepair and restore the Historic District. Each city can apply for grants. However these grants do not come from the state of Texas. Instead, each city collects so much in taxes from Hotel/motel tax fees. These in turn can be allocated for the HistoricalSociety to aid in helping business and Eastland Historic Preservation Board members are shown at the board’s recent meeting. The oard operates and helps Eastland repair andrestore the Historic District. property owners in the Historical District to update buildings. James Brookhart, owner of the store The arousel on the square, as welcomed as a new board member to the Historic PreservationSociety. He had expressed a great interest in restoring Eastland’s Historic District to arenewed state that still hearkens back to the original architecture used downtown.
