Father And Son Painted County To Brightness

In 1972, Richard Q. Herrera, his wife Bea and children (Emma, Ricky, Rebecca and Ilda) were making their way to Longview, Texas.

Due to bad weather, the Herrera family stopped for the night in Ranger. They were enjoying breakfast at the Dairy Queen when Richard saw a flyer that the Rail Road Commission was hiring.
