H. V. O’Brien: ‘Country Editor’ personified

EDITOR’S NOTE: This is one in an occasional series of profiles of Texas Press Association members.
 
EASTLAND - You get a sense of Houston V. O’Brien’s journalistic philosophy even before you open the door to his newspaper. On the side of the building is a larger-than-life tribute to Norman Rockwell’s environmental portrait of a country editor. Published in the Saturday Evening Post in 1946, the painting depicts a whitehaired editor working intently at his typewriter, unruffled by he bustle of small-town life around him.
