The beginning of the fall semester marked the end of careers for four Cisco College employees, who together had worked a total of 75 years for the school. A well-attended ceremony in the Maner Library at Cisco College on August 19, 2014 honored professor Jan Sorrells, who taught English Literature for 19 years as a fulltime professor, plus she logged additional time as an adjunct instructor. Bobby Smith, President of Cisco College presented Sorrells with a clock commemorating her years of service to the college. Sorrels did not start college until she was 45 years old, when, encouraged by a friend, she started back to school and earned an Associate’s degree at Cisco College.
